Russian Military Fires Warning Shots at Civilian Ship in Black Sea

For the first time since leaving the Black Sea Grain Initiative last month, Russia fired warning shots at a civilian merchant ship in the Black Sea. Jay Debertin, CEO of CHS, expressed concern for the farmers in Ukraine and global customers who relied on Ukraine for food. Companies like CHS now transport grain by rail, despite Ukraine being better equipped for vessel shipment. During the Black Sea Grain Initiative’s active year, Ukraine exported about 33 million tons of grain and agricultural products from its main four ports.
