Tens of thousands of internally displaced individuals in Yemen’s Marib province face potential starvation following the United Nations’ decision to limit humanitarian assistance due to inadequate funds. Officials from Marib report that over 60% of Yemen’s displaced population, which totals more than 2 million people, currently reside in Marib and urgently require basic necessities like food, shelter, and medicine. Cases of severe malnutrition have been observed in Marib’s displacement camps. With further reductions in aid announced by the World Food Programme, millions more Yemenis stand at risk, including school children benefiting from feeding programs. Amidst these dire circumstances, the Saudi aid agency, KSrelief, has commenced food distribution in Marib and surrounding regions to counterbalance the UN’s aid cuts.
