Frubana, operating in the vast and dynamic food industry, aims to bridge the gap between local producers and restaurants, offering a unique service that makes food more affordable in the region. Fabián Gómez Gutiérrez, CEO of Frubana, highlighted the company’s strong foothold in Brazil and Mexico and has aspirations to further its reach within Latin America.

The company saw an impressive performance in 2022, closing with approximately $300 million in sales, a substantial increase from their initial sales which stood around $2 to $3 million. This signifies a growth trajectory that predicts a 50% increase year on year. Frubana’s operational model is simple yet effective. Restaurants can place orders for their required products through Frubana’s app and receive everything they need at their doorstep within 12 hours. This not only saves them time but also ensures cost-effectiveness. Currently, they are in partnership with 75,000 restaurants, marking a growth of 100 times.Although headquartered in Colombia, Frubana’s operations extend to seven cities in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, with two-thirds of the business originating outside of Colombia. The company identifies potential for expansion in 50 locations across Latin America, and dreams of reaching cities like Cali, Bucaramanga, Cartagena, and Santa Marta, while strengthening their presence in the existing seven locations.Fruits and vegetables remain their strongest category, constituting 25-30% of their sales. Recently, they ventured into proteins, which now represents 20% of sales, while the remaining 50% includes groceries like oils and field products.Every day, they receive between 4,000 and 5,000 product quotes, providing them with insights into product availability. An interesting future move for Frubana includes the possibility of offering credit to restaurants based on their orders.
