The U.S. has seen robust advances in its corn and soybean harvests this week, thanks to generally favorable weather in the Midwest. Despite a delayed report from the USDA due to a federal holiday, numbers show that the national soybean harvest is now 43% complete, up 20 points from the previous week and 6 points ahead of the five-year average. The corn harvest also saw a significant leap, gaining 19 points to 42% complete, which is 3 points ahead of the average. Compared to this time last year, these figures are notably higher; the U.S. soybean and corn crops were at 41% and 29% harvested, respectively. Particularly in Illinois, the soybean harvest progressed by 25 points, reaching 44% completion, significantly ahead of both last year’s figure and the average. Similarly, the corn harvest in the state rose by 20 points to 42%, 3 points ahead of the average.
