Harvest operations across Illinois are projected to face delays as meteorologists predict significant rainfall and possible thunderstorms from Wednesday through Friday of this week. The core of the heavy rainfall is anticipated Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, with Northern Illinois expecting about an inch of rain during this period. The rest of the state is bracing for precipitation on Friday, with estimates ranging from a half-inch to an inch of rain. Clearing is not expected until Friday night over eastern parts of Illinois, with potential clear weather over the weekend. Furthermore, widespread freezes, with temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees, are predicted for most parts of the state on October 26th and 27th, potentially adding additional challenges to the harvest season.
