Brazil has finalized an agreement to export chicken to Algeria, amplifying its influence in the halal market. After intricate negotiations and establishing requisite health and safety protocols, the Algerian market is now accessible to Brazil, the world’s preeminent poultry exporter. The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) expressed optimism, highlighting Algeria’s previously restrictive stance on chicken imports. Brazil, proficient in halal chicken meat exports, annually dispatches about 2 million metric tons to the Arab world and intends to adeptly cater to Algeria’s market demands, complementing local product consumption while maintaining its technical freedom from avian influenza despite isolated incidents earlier this year.
