American Crystal Sugar Stock Reaches All-Time High

Shares of American Crystal Sugar Co. stock achieved a record-breaking $6,000 per share in March 2024. A total of 27 shares were brokered at this peak price. This surge marks a significant increase from the previous trading season’s average of $4,581.47 per share.

The 2023 crop season saw active trading, with 4,508 shares brokered at an average price of $5,328.61 from August 2023 to March 2024. Broker Jayson Menke of Acres and Shares noted that this volume is similar to the 10-year average of 4,541 shares brokered.

While share sales in other sugar cooperatives are managed internally, American Crystal Sugar utilizes brokers, providing some insight into market trends. These record highs have been fueled by consecutive years of strong crops. The net payments for 2022 and 2023 were $70.62 and $84.69 per ton respectively.

It’s important to note that brokered shares represent less than 1% of American Crystal’s total outstanding shares (approximately 500,000). Menke observes that the sugarbeet industry’s success aligns with record-setting U.S. net farm income in 2022 and strong figures reported in 2021 and 2023.
