UK pork exporters are eyeing a promising market in Chile, with a significant growth in consumer demand for pork, especially offal, according to a recent AHDB report. AHDB plans to attend the Espacio Food and Service trade show in Santiago, Chile, from September 26-28, aiming to forge new ties with potential importers and reinforce existing relationships. UK pork exports to Chile have surged by 49% in volume during the first half of the year, with their value almost doubling compared to the same period in 2022. Pig offal exports, in particular, rose by 32.3% in volume and 138.6% in value. Chile leads pork consumption in its region, forecasting a 14% rise by 2031. In 2022, approximately 100 tonnes of UK pork offal was exported to Chile, indicating the nation’s growing market potential for UK pork. However, despite the slowing Chilean economy and cautious meat purchasing, long-term prospects for pork remain optimistic, emphasizing the importance of participation in such trade events.
