John Deere is on the path to revolutionizing agriculture with its commitment to provide a fully autonomous fleet by 2030. With the unveiling of its 2025 model year product line, the company moves a step closer to achieving this ambitious goal. By targeting autonomous operations for every phase of corn and soy crop cultivation, from tillage to harvest, Deere aims to address labor shortages and enhance efficiency in farming practices.

Aaron Wetzel, Vice President of Production Systems for Production and Precision Ag, emphasized the company’s vision, stating, “By 2030, we want to have and demonstrate a fully autonomous production system for corn and soybean producers.” This initiative reflects Deere’s focus on leveraging autonomous technology to fulfill the diverse needs of the largest farming segment in North America.

To pave the way for this future, Deere introduces an autonomy-ready option package for its 8R and 9R tractors, equipping them with essential hardware, software, and safety systems needed for self-driving conversion. This innovative package will feature advanced technology such as rear implement ethernet, new visibility features, and a comprehensive set of connectors and controllers, preparing the machinery for eventual autonomous operation.
