India’s Agricultural Exports Dip 8.8%, APEDA Focuses on Unregulated Products
April 23, 2024India’s agricultural exports experienced an 8.8% decline between April 2023 and February 2024, totaling $43.7 billion. According to Commerce Ministry data, this decrease is largely attributed to geopolitical factors like the Red Sea crisis and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, primarily impacting regulated commodities such as rice, wheat, sugar, and onions.
In response, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is developing a detailed plan to boost the export of 20 unregulated agricultural products. This strategic shift aims to diversify India’s agricultural export portfolio and lessen reliance on heavily regulated commodities.
