India has seen a surge in the value of its coffee exports, recording a 5.85% increase during the months of April to August this fiscal year. The total export value reached $520.45 million, up from $491.65 million during the same period in the previous year. This uptick can be attributed to higher coffee prices in the market.

In contrast, the actual volume of coffee shipments witnessed a decrease, dropping by 5.71%. The total volume of exports during these months stood at 1.65 lakh tonnes, compared to 1.75 lakh tonnes the previous year.

When evaluated in rupee terms, exports showed an impressive rise of 11.62%, reaching ₹4,282 crore from ₹3,836 crore during the corresponding period a year ago. The increase in per unit value is notable, with Indian exporters realising a value of ₹2.58 lakh per unit. This emphasizes the stronger pricing power Indian coffee producers and exporters currently hold in the global market.
