In a promising start to the cotton season, the new crop has begun to arrive in select regions of North and South India. Notably, its prices are consistently trading above the minimum support price (MSP) benchmarks.

Ashwani Jhamb, Vice-President of the Bhatinda-based Indian Cotton, notes that this year’s arrivals have come a tad earlier than usual. “We’re witnessing daily arrivals of approximately 3,000 bales. While the demand is gradually increasing, we anticipate a surge in arrivals after September 15,” remarked Jhamb.

As the market sentiment remains positive, stakeholders are closely monitoring the situation to determine its impact on both domestic and international trade scenarios.
