In the midst of ongoing restrictions on onion exports, exporters are calling for a “fair and equitable” allocation of the limited export quota allowed to select countries. The government’s recent decision to permit onion exports in controlled quantities to Bhutan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, and Mauritius has sparked a wave of confusion and calls for clarity among the agricultural and export communities.

The Horticulture Produce Exporters’ Association (HPEA) has officially approached the Centre, advocating for an equitable distribution system that ensures all exporters have access to these limited markets.
