Optimistic Forecast for Cotton Farmers as Prices Set to Surpass Minimum Support Price, Predicts TNAU
October 12, 2023The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s (TNAU) Domestic Export and Marketing Intelligence Cell (DEMIC) projects an encouraging scenario for cotton farmers, foreseeing farmgate prices for quality cotton to prevail around ₹6,800-7,000 per quintal in October-November, and further ascending to ₹7,100 per quintal during January-February 2024. Remarkably, these predicted prices for the current cotton sowing season are elevated above the established minimum support price (MSP) of ₹6,620 per quintal, fixed by the Centre for October 2023 to September 2024.
