Sulphur Deficiency Alert: Wet Weather Depletes Soil Nutrients, Affecting Crop Quality

March 14, 2024 Off By Author

Following a season of unusually wet weather, agronomists are raising alarms over potential sulphur deficiencies in soils, which could undermine crop quality and yield. Sulphur, vital for nitrogen conversion and overall crop health, has been leached away by heavy rains, prompting an urgent reassessment of soil nutrients. Origin Fertilisers’ nutrition agronomist, Guillaume Franklin, emphasizes the mobility of sulphur and its critical role in protein formation and nitrogen utilization. He advocates for timely soil testing and the consideration of Polysulphate, a UK-mined, eco-friendly fertiliser, as an efficient solution to replenish sulphur levels and support sustained crop development.
