Tyson Foods Announces Closure of Four Poultry Plants Amidst Q3 Losses

August 12, 2023 Off By Author

Facing significant third-quarter losses, Tyson Foods is set to shut down four poultry plants in North Little Rock, Arkansas; Corydon, Indiana; and Dexter and Noel, Missouri by early 2024. These closures will result in the loss of 3,000 jobs, significantly impacting local communities, particularly in Noel, MO, where the plant employs 70% of the city’s population. This move, attributed to cost-cutting and capacity utilization strategies, follows the earlier closure of two plants in Arkansas and Virginia this year. Tyson Foods’ Q3 report showed a 3% drop in sales year-on-year and a net loss of $417 million.
