Wyoming Hunters Set New Elk Harvest Record, Aiding Wildlife Management
March 25, 2024In Wyoming, the 2023-24 elk hunting season saw a record harvest, with hunters taking nearly 29,000 elk, reflecting a 10 percent increase over the previous year. This achievement highlights the role of hunters in wildlife conservation, especially in managing over-objective elk populations that cause damage to private lands. Notably, the harvest of antlerless elk surpassed 13,000 for the first time, indicating a significant effort towards population control. Wildlife Chief Rick King commended the cooperative efforts of landowners and hunters in this conservation success.
